Turncock Bar fitted with rubber grip

Various types are available.

The 30mm diameter Turncock Bar is designed to operate valve keys that are not supplied with an integral bar such as the Metropolitan keys offered by Vernon Morris. The overall length of the Turncock Bar is 1.5 metres and has the benefit of a chisel end to assist the user in lifting grid covers.

EN8 has higher % of Carbon (0.35% – 0.45%) than Mild steel (0.05% – 0.25%), which means EN8 has higher tensile strength used in axles, shafts, gears, bolts, crankshafts and studs.

Mild Steel is very cheap and used for all general purpose applications where it high strengths are not required
